Ten questions to ask on a kindergarten tour

First day of school, April 2026

A good kindergarten tour should leave you with facts, not just a warm feeling. Ask ten questions: three about the teachers, three about the day, two about safety and two about how the school keeps you informed and what it charges. Write the answers down and compare schools afterwards.

What should I ask about the teachers?

  • Who will be my child's class teacher, and how long have they been here?
  • How many children will be in the class, and how many adults are in the room?
  • Are staff first-aid trained, and when was the last refresher?

What should I ask about the day?

  • Can I see the timetable for a normal week?
  • How much of the day is outdoors?
  • What happens when a child is upset or refuses to join in?

What should I ask about safety?

  • How is pickup verified?
  • Are the classrooms and corridors monitored by CCTV, and who can view it?

What should I ask about updates and fees?

  • How and how often will I hear about my child's progress?
  • What does the fee include, and what costs extra during the year?

Good schools answer all ten without hesitation. At Skill-ed we would rather you asked them on the tour than wondered later. Book a time and bring the list, or read how to choose a play school in Dehradun for the full checklist.
